Most cloud environments grow organically. Over time they collect over-provisioned servers, forgotten resources, inconsistent security and applications that are slower than they should be. We help you get more from the cloud while using less of it.
Our optimisation programme focuses on four outcomes, each of which reinforces the others.
1. Better structure
- A clear account and subscription structure, with ownership and tagging for every resource
- Everything defined as infrastructure as code, with consistent environments from development to production
- Simplified architectures that replace self-managed components with managed services where that reduces effort and risk
- Duplicated, legacy and unused services identified and retired
2. Higher performance
- Profiling and load testing to find the real bottlenecks
- Caching and content delivery networks, plus database tuning and the right database engine for each workload
- Autoscaling that follows demand, so performance holds at peak without paying for peak all day
- Modern, efficient compute, including current instance generations and ARM-based processors where workloads support them
- Observability and service level objectives, so performance is measured rather than guessed
3. Stronger security
- A cloud security posture review across identity, network, data and logging
- Least-privilege access, encryption everywhere and proper secrets management
- Centralised logging and threat detection, with automated patching
- Controls mapped to ISO/IEC 27001 and the CIS Benchmarks. See our information security services.
4. Smaller footprint
Using fewer resources lowers both your bill and your environmental impact. Our FinOps work includes:
- Rightsizing compute, databases and Kubernetes workloads to actual demand
- Removing idle and orphaned resources, and switching off non-production environments out of hours
- Storage lifecycle policies that move data to cheaper tiers automatically
- Commitment discounts (savings plans and reserved capacity) and spot capacity where appropriate
- Carbon reporting using each provider's carbon footprint tools, and choosing lower-carbon regions where your data residency requirements allow
How it works
- Assessment: a short, fixed-scope review of your environment, costs and architecture.
- Report: prioritised findings, from quick wins to strategic changes, with estimated savings and risk reduction for each.
- Remediation: we implement the changes or work alongside your team.
- Continuous optimisation: dashboards, cost anomaly alerts and regular reviews, so the gains are kept.
